What: Seva day at the Akron Shambhala Center.

What: Family yoga and meditation. Opening day kick-off party.

Info: Vegan pot luck party, and family yoga hosted by Jen Griest. There will be a nature reconnection as well. There will be a kirtan celebration presented by the Art of Living in the later part of the evening, as well. The Banyan Tree is one of Peace Weeks sponsors this year. www.thebanyantree.org

Info: 4 speakers (including Billy Soule with the Akron PeaceMakers, Patty O’Shea (John Looney Peace Studies program), Maureen Sloan (presents mindfulness therapy in Akron General), and Ray Gehani (professer at the University of Akron) discussing the tools they use to bring peace and nonviolence into their daily lives. The audience is encouraged to ask questions.

What: Peace Ride
Where: Mustill Store Parking Lot (248 Ferndale St, Akron) to Canal Visitor Center
When: 9am leave Akron, and return by 2:00pm
Info: We will be riding along the beautiful towpath for about 20-25 miles. At the Canal Visitor Center, we will return to Akron via the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad! This usually costs bikers $3, but they are waiving the fee for us! There will be beverages (alcoholic and non) available to purchase on board. Participants are asked to create their own peace flags for their bicycle (though not mandatory).

• Zach Friedhof, co-founder of Akron Peace Project will be there to leave us with words of support in how to promote peace and live in harmony with the World.
